A new era of standardization – US deep dive
Following the foundational article “A New Era of Standardization”, which laid out the global imperative for harmonized regulatory reporting, this second installment turns the spotlight on the United States— a market defined by a uniquely fragmented regulatory landscape, with overlapping requirements from multiple federal and state agencies.
This paper explores the persistent challenges faced by US banks and broker-dealers, including inconsistent data systems, real-time surveillance demands, evolving crypto and ESG regulations, and heightened scrutiny around liquidity, cyber resilience, and Basel III reforms. It demonstrates why a unified, standardized architecture—with core components and intelligent workflows—is increasingly critical to navigate this complexity and future-proof regulatory compliance.
