Frankfurt, July 22, 2020 – The RegTech Convention, one of the largest conferences on financial market regulation in Europe with around 800 participants from 40 countries, will take place on November 25 and 26, 2020. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the RegTech Convention will be held as a virtual event. Thus, BearingPoint RegTech offers the international conference participants a safe platform for a lively exchange on current developments in the financial industry.
The motto of this year's conference is "RegTech Connects". From BearingPoint RegTech's perspective, financial market regulation is entering a new phase of innovation and closer collaboration between market participants. Given the current economic environment, digital transformation and geopolitical risks, all stakeholders see a need for a reconsideration of the existing system. Politicians, regulators, but also the industry itself are rethinking the existing approaches and are examining the potential for innovation and new technologies. BearingPoint RegTech believes that the COVID-19 pandemic will strengthen these developments and that the industry needs new models of collaboration now more than ever.
The RegTech Convention is a two-day virtual event with specialist conferences, panel discussions and breakout sessions. Participants include representatives from the European banking sector, international financial institutions, insurance companies, regulators, central banks, industry experts, and the media. Numerous formats such as panel discussions and keynotes will be broadcast live from the congress center Kap Europa in Frankfurt. In line with this year’s motto "RegTech connects", participants can use the virtual conference platform to network with other RegTech Convention participants and with speakers and panelists. Additionally, all program features will be recorded and will be available online for participants for another four weeks after the conference.
On the first conference day, the focus is on current economic developments and the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on financial markets as well as on hot topics in financial market regulation and technological innovations. On the second conference day, topic-specific conferences for banks, regulators, and insurers, among others, are on the agenda.
As in previous years, RegTech Convention participants can expect top-class speakers again. Prof. Dr. Joachim Wuermeling, Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank, Dr. Johannes Turner, Director of the Statistics Department, Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB), and the futurist Ben Hammersley have already confirmed their participation as speakers and panelists.
